When NUS Assistant Professor Yvonne Lee heard that consensual sex between males might be legalized in Singapore, she took action immediately. Her main worry is that gay men might not be thrown in jail for homosexuality. To prevent all the gay men from being treated fairly in Singapore society, or, even worse, in her NUS classroom, she needed to take bold action. So when MM Lee said that gays might deserve equal rights, she opened her mouth and pulled a big Bible out of it, and then started to hit MM Lee on the head with it. Her main worry is that fundamental Christians like her will not be tolerated (and may even be called “bigoted, homophobes, or hateful”) if gays are not sent to jail for punishment. In the Straits Times, May 4, 2007, she points out that if the gays are not punished, this amounts to “intolerance against religion.” And her religion, particularly, will not stand for intolerance. “We’ll send those homosexuals to prison, as the law stands, and ensure that they don’t trounce on anyone’s religion. We’ll cane them too.” MM Lee reportedly ended up with a big welt on his head from the Bible wound, but is expecting to make a full recovery. “She was hitting me quite hard, and screaming about gay people at the same time. I didn’t expect this to happen in Singapore. New York, perhaps.”

What a bigoted commentary on Yvonne Lee’s views. Disgraceful and illustrative of the gay lobby’s perverse efforts.

Doesn’t she realize she looks like a man! That wld mean that if she had sex w a man, it wld be almost like gay sex!

“Her main worry is that fundamental Christians like her will not be tolerated (and may even be called “bigoted, homophobes, or hateful”) if gays are not sent to jail for punishment.”- I’m not against Christianity but her selfishness is a great shame. She’s worried about being called names but not once did she mention the persecution and oppression by the church towards homosexuals.
If she says that “And her religion, particularly, will not stand for intolerance.” What is this big ruckus that she’s making? Does it mean that everyone MUST follow what her religon demands? Then does it mean that our government must refer to the Bible in order to rule? I believe gambling is also a sin and it is also an intolerance to her and her fundamental bigots. Why then, did she not bring her and her cross to the IR site and demand the works to be stopped?
At the end of the day, I do not see homosexuals as intolerant as she herself is. In fact, I think she did a good job of showing everyone how intolerant, coward and God-playing she and her church is.

Although I perceived homosexuality as Unnatural, they are humans too! It’s just against basic human right just because of their sexual orientation.
No wonder they said NUS = no use man…..

I fully agree with Yvonne. Unfortunately, the homosexual community is a vociferous minority. If you want Sg to be a debauched society, then you will a have a slippery slope with unimaginable consequences.
Do you want to see men holding each others hands and kissing each other in the street? How about gay adoptions whereby innocent children are brought up by two blokes sleeping together. That is exactly what happens in Europe.

Yvonne, are you a true Christian or just an imposter? Your action seemed so satanic. Very unchristian like. Read your bible well and learn to be tolerant to your own kind regardless of their gender, preference, race..and many more. You ought to be ashame of yourself and a disgrace to your parents. I wonder how your parents raised you. Sad. Don’t you think you are being disrepectful of the Holy Bible? It is not created to be used as a tool to hit at others let alone this well respected man who had created an environment that allows your parent to raise you without prejudice. The Bible is created like any other religous doctrines, to preach love. Your behavior does not and will not be endorsed by the Almighty.

Tim, you say the gay community is a vociferous minority?
What about those militant x’tian fundies who take over a secular women’s organization to further their intolerant agendas?
